June 28, 2023 was the first day that patients were processed at the Maternity Clinic. It’s been a long time coming. As the Rt. Rev. James Tengatenga has said “Hallelujah! God is amazing!” The initial vision of James has become reality.
The Clinic was initially licensed by the Midwives and Nurses Council of Malawi in May as a Maternity Clinic, and the opening was scheduled for June 20. On June 19, inspectors for the Medical Council of Malawi arrived and recommended that the clinic also serve those under five as well as the maternity services. The inspectors were impressed by the renovated buildings with water and power, and by the equipment from Project C.U.R.E. After six additional items were acquired, they approved the use of one of the renovated structures as a temporary Out Patient Department. Thus, the Maternity Clinic can now serve babies and children as well as maternity patients.
