Ceremonial opening of the clinic and first baby

Updated: Aug 9, 2023

Saturday August 5, marked the official ceremonial opening of the Mindanthi Health Center at Chapananga in Chikwawa District.

Message from Tom Gebhard of the Warm Heart Board to be read at the ceremony:

The Official Opening of the Mindanti Health Center on Saturday, August 5, 2023 will be a day of celebration for all who have visited or contributed to the creation of the Mindanti Health Centre. Visitors to “Mindanti Clinic” throughout the years have prayed for its completion and are unanimously overjoyed and surprised that this “Act of God” has become a several building complex with its own water and electricity sources. Donors recognize that it’s the vision, work, and support of the Anglican Diocese of Southern Malawi (ADSM) that built this existing complex. It’s God’s creation, and the Holy Spirit is present in the hearts, minds and hands of Malawians who did the work. Donors were blessed to be able to provide timely, adequate and supportive funding. This Health Centre, as a Maternity Clinic, a temporary Out Patient Department, and a complex of buildings, was never envisioned or imagined when work was begun. It was the will of God for creation of facilities and the transformation of those involved.

On Monday, August 7, 2023 the first baby was born at the clinic. We welcome the beautiful Tiyamike Isaac at 6:25pm. The Rt Rev. Dr. James Tengatenga, was able to meet the baby girl when he visited the clinic on August 8. It's only appropriate that Bishop James was able to meet the first baby as he was the one to lay the foundation stone for the clinic back in 2005.
